Las Vegas Spring Fling March 27th-29th!!
LAS VEGAS FRIENDS (LVF) - MARCH SPRING FLING

Friday, March 27th thru Sunday, March 29th

COME OUT AND PEG YOUR FUN METER!

 Red Rock

From Wining & Dining, Dancing & Lounging, Bowling & Golfing, Hiking & Nature, to Pubbin’ & Grubbin’! There’s bound to

be something for YOU!

RED ROCK CASINO - Friday, March 27th

7pm to 8pm: Lucky Lounge.  It is the circular lounge in the middle of the casino with plush accommodations. You’ll be looking for someone with a ‘gift’ bag of Blue and Black ‘Happy Werks’ wristbands or people with them already on! You won’t have to ‘Get Lucky’ to find us. The bag and/or wristbands will be your indicators all weekend.

8pm to 9pm: Food Court. Don’t knock it until you try it! There are many inexpensive yet tasty options here from Tropical to Typical. There is a Capriotti’s Deli, Baja Fresh, Tropical Smoothie, Fatburger, Chinese and Italian too! Don’t care to eat? Then continue to chill at the Lucky Lounge and join us for Cosmic Bowling.

9pm to 11pm: Cosmic Bowling. If you have never done Cosmic Bowling you HAVE to come out and try this. It is like bowling in a nightclub, only without all the people in your way. Although I have to admit the image of bowling WITH all the people in the way is amusing. If bowling isn’t for you, don’t worry, they have a full service lounge, shuffle board, darts and pool tables too.

11pm ‘til ‘Who Knows When’: Cherry The Nightclub. There is no 'Last Call' in Vegas and ‘Ripe and Red’ Hot, Cherry Nightclub was just begging to be ‘picked’ for a continuation of Friday’s adventures. Groovy dance beats will keep you going and with its sinful surroundings and private outdoor pool area it doesn't take long to figure out why this place is so ‘sweet’. Bring your own whipped cream and come on and get your groove on!

SUMMERLIN AREA - Saturday, March 28th

8am to Noon: Sleep In. You are hung over. Sleep in, relax. I know this because I drove you home last night or watched you stumble off to your hotel room at 5am. Seriously though, DO NOT drink and drive! If you are not staying at the Red Rock, I can be a designated driver or call 456-RIDE and they will pick you and your car up and take you home for $50. That is much cheaper than the alternative.

Noon to 2pm: Lunch @ Marche Bacchus with Free Wine Tasting. A European escape on the banks of Lake Jacqueline in the Desert Shores community. In this hidden little commercial center lies a ‘Diamond in the Rough’ that is Las Vegas. A great bistro with New Orleans influences and a patio that opens onto a lake is sure to rekindle your spirit after a long Friday evening! Located at 2620 Regatta Drive. Non-Locals will be picked up by the locals if you are ‘transportation challenged’.

2pm to 6pm: OPEN. Do what you want, say what you will, or just kick back and chill.

6pm to 8pm: Putting Tournament @ Angel Park Golf Course. Relax there is no pressure in this tournament as we are all playing for fun. Although, come to think of it, the winner may have to buy the first round of drinks and the loser the last, we shall see. Angel Park offers “Golf Lighted for Night Play”, so don’t worry, we won’t be putting in the dark. Course description:

A 9-hole, lighted putting course. It is like mini-golf without the clowns, windmills and giant spiders (a joker or two may be participating, but don’t let that keep you from coming). If you are a bit timid knocking a little white ball around, on an over irrigated and over manicured lawn in front of the group: take some frustrations out on the lighted practice range. No one will see, or will be filming a ‘Balls Gone Wild Video’, we promise.

8pm to 8:30pm: Regroup, Tally Up the Scores, and Determine Who Buys 1st & Last Round!

8:30pm to 9:30pm: An FYI. Las Vegas is Participating in ‘Earth Hour 2009’. Casinos and hotels on and off of the Las Vegas Strip will dim or turn off neon and flashing lights creating a once-in-a-lifetime viewing event. Government agencies, businesses and residents of communities throughout the Valley will join to support the cause by turning off their own lights. We will have a great view of the strip going ‘Dark/Dim’ from here. Now, off to the pub with ‘ya! Be there at 9pm!

9pm to 10pm: JC Wooloughan’s Irish Pub @ JW Marriot Hotel-Casino (Across the street from Angel Park). This will be the site of our 1st Annual Fish & Chips Tournament where we see who can consume the most fish & chips in one 45-minute session! The winner gets a gallon container of tarter sauce and a pint of Guinness to wash it all down. Okay, there really isn’t a Fish & Chips Tournament, order what you like, consume as necessary and at your own pace.

10pm to TBD: JC Wooloughan’s Irish Pub. The Dropkick Murphy’s Start at 9pm! I wish they did, but it’s not them damn it. Another fantastic live band will be performing though and is sure to knock your socks off. Socks off at 9pm? That is what I call a good start to a nights end, if I say so myself. Again, please DO NOT drink and drive.

RED ROCK CONSERVATION AREA - Sunday, March 29th
10am to 2pm: Hike to the Calico Tanks! This is a 2.5-mile, round trip, hike & scramble which runs up a canyon and over sandstone to a large natural depression (a ‘tinaja’ or ‘tank’) near the top of the Calico Hills ridge. The tank sometimes holds water. There are great views of Calico Basin and the Las Vegas Valley from a saddle just beyond the tank. Don’t worry, if the hike isn’t for you there is plenty to do around the trailhead and the Red Rock Conservation Area is beautiful and probably in bloom!

PLEASE RSVP to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it by March 23rd, so that we can make any necessary arrangements. Drop-By’s are more than welcome but some of the events (i.e. bowling and golf) could be limited if you don’t RSVP. See you soon!

The lodging rate in the thread title is no joke! The Cliffs at Peace Canyon, 4550 South Grand Canyon Drive, has this deal on Orbitz and Hotels.com. It is a former condo complex turned Hotel. You can’t beat this price for the quality and it is close to where the following activities are taking place. Other hotels nearby are the Red Rock, Suncoast, JW Marriot, Holiday Inn Express, La Quinta and Element by Westin. Our 1st Annual Spring Fling is going to be a blast! Come check it out!
